Spain in anticipation of the new rent law

At the moment  11.7% of flats in Spain are rented.

The value is much lower than in other European countries. The extreme example is German rental market where almost 60% of flats are rented. In Great Britain 40% are rented, in France 32%.

Now, the Spanish left government is working at the new rent law that regulates issues related to the flat rent.  The new law is expected to regulate also some tax issues. The purpose of the changes is promote rental market of the middle and higher class flat.

In comparison to 2008, the rent price fell in the first half of 2009 by 8.2%.

For example, in Madrid prices fell by 8.4%, in Barcelona by 11.4%, in Valencia by 18.5% and the most in Zaragoza by 30%.
